If you have similar aged children or as in my case a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old nephew that are inseparable, you will need a double stroller that can accommodate both of their needs as well as your own. Believe me, the last thing I want to do when out with them is a battle with a stroller that ‘s hard to handle and impractical.
For the longer outings to the zoo or anywhere that is going to take longer than an hour or so, a Sit and Stand Double Stroller is the correct option for me. Frankly, it is the best solution for me irrelevant the length or distance of the trip. My nephew still likes to take naps and prefers to sit in a stroller than walk. While my son prefers to walk (I am convinced he is hyperactive) but even he gets tired of walking long distances, and when that happens he can just hop on the rear bench seat or stand.
Problem: 1 lazy two-year-old + one hyperactive four-year-old + a mom that wants convenience and practicality. Solution: A sit and stand double stroller!!!
I will review the best options and brands available and for your convenience, I will share my thoughts with you.
The Joovy Caboose has caught my eye before, and it just looks practical and easy to use, and it has received rave reviews with an average rating of 4/5 stars overall.
– Large canopy with sun visor
– Three positions reclining front seat
– Child snack tray and two cup holders
– Parent organizer
– Large storage basket
– No snack tray for the rear seat
The fact that the back seat doesn’t have a snack try is by no means a deal breaker for me, the pros and extras on this stroller outweigh the cons by far.
Versatility is an understatement with this one, Joovy now has a Caboose too which you can purchase separately, the Caboose Too is a rear seat that you can attach to your stroller if you have two younger children and want to convert it to a standard Tandem style double stroller. The stroller has a universal car seat adapter included with your purchase. It can be attached to the front seat to attach up to 28 different car seats easily from the following major brands, Baby Trend, Britax, Chicco, Combi, Compass, Evenflo, Graco, Maxi Cosi, Peg Perego and Safety 1st. You can also purchase a rain cover and sun cover.
One of the best, most lightweight and compact sit and stand double stroller available. It is easy to maneuver, perfect for everyday use, outings and most certainly ideal for traveling. With a seat weight capacity of 45 lbs per seat, it is suitable for infants and toddlers.
This sit and stand tandem stroller makes me feel like I am seeing double, with two seats, two canopies, and two snack trays.
This stroller is extremely practical and can be used from newborn to Toddler, twins or similar aged siblings so you will only ever have to purchase one stroller as it grows with your children.
– Reclining seats
– Large storage basket
– Older child can sit in rear seat or stand on platform
– 5 point safety harnesses
– Not compatible with all brands car seats
This stroller can accept up to two infant car seats with snap and go technology and is compatible with the following car seats, Baby Trend, Graco Snugride Classic Fit, Britax, Evenflo Embrace, Discovery and Safety 1st OnBoard 35, converting it to a complete travel system for your convenience. Maximum weight limit of 40 pounds per seat.
Lightweight, quick and easy compact fold. Comes in some stylish colors (some of which I have never heard of before, but I am glad I have now). Millennium (orange, blue and pink) spark, onyx, gray mist, sonic, fusion, carbon, chrome, my personal favorite tropic, mesa, vanguard, Skylar and way too many others to mention. Please forgive me going on and on about the colors but I am utterly fascinated by the names. I mean seriously, who comes up with a color description like green tea for a stroller what on earth happened to plain old purple, blue, and pink or gray? While I find the colors names entertaining they are all amazing and, there is without a doubt one that will match any personality.
Baby Trend double sit and stand tandem strollers are available in the following models and variations: Double Eclipse, Eclipse, double, Elite, Ultra, LX, DX, and Tag-A-Long. The question is not whether this is a great stroller because it is fantastic, the question is which model and color do you prefer, and which one will suit your needs best.
The only way I can think of to describe this stroller is as “The Godfather” of strollers. It is extremely versatile you are spoilt for choice.
– 12” Air Tires with Three modes, fixed, 45 degrees & swivel
– 5 point harnesses
– All terrain
– Great looking modern design
– Big wheels make it a good jogging stroller
– Joey seat doesn’t recline
– Slightly on the heavy side
The stroller comes with tons of accessories included Infant Head huggers, Front Bars, Tire Pump, Rain cover & Zip off Storage pouch. But what puts this stroller in a class of its own is the unique ability to accommodate a Third child. Not only can it be configured to accommodate a third child but it gives you two options to do this.
The first option is a Joey seat which is purchased separately and attached to the front of the stroller.
The second alternative and the option that I would choose is the Glider board. The Glider Board can be added to convert your double stroller into a double stroller with sit and stand option for a third child. The glider board attaches with ease and can hold children up to 65lbs., and its dimensions are 17″ wide, 8″ long, and approximately 8″ off the ground, and it is compatible with many other strollers as well.
While it might be a bit pricey in comparison to some other strollers, all the extras make it worth the price.
Another great choice with two canopies. Front seat, rear bench seat & standing platform, offers you 12 riding options.
– Suitable from infant to toddler
– Front wheel suspension
– One hand fold with storage latch
– Multi-position reclining front seat
– Fits 2 x Graco SnugRide Click Connect Infant Car Seats
– Removable Rear Seat
– Not compatible with all Graco car seats
Parents taking into consideration with the design of this stroller which includes parent tray and cup holders plus as large storage basket. Seats are removable and machine washable. Front seat, bench seat and standing platform each hold a child up to 50 pounds. Rear seat holds up to 40 lbs. 3 and 5 point safety harnesses to keep your little ones safe. A great option for everyday use, all- rounder.
When purchasing any baby product, and especially strollers, we need to pay attention to the assembly instructions. Whether you read the instruction manual or watch a youtube video how to assemble and fold, or get someone to assemble it for you. It is important to follow the directions and get it right. Ensure correct assembly. The proper construction will keep you one step ahead of the rest and not slowed down by a faulty stroller.
Unfortunately, many great strollers have received bad reviews only because of instructions not followed and the stroller didn’t perform as expected. Also, make sure you know where to get replacement parts and accessories for your stroller
When starting this journey through double strollers with sit and stand options, I had no idea how spoilt for choice I would be. When comparing Graco vs. baby trend or Valco vs. Joovy or the other way round, I find it hard because each one has its pros and cons. Worst of all I like them all. So I find myself been extremely critical trying to find faults. What I should be doing is following my advice and deciding based on which one fits best into my lifestyle. Narrows it down slightly. I then take the needs of my children into consideration, which leaves me with one that stands out for me. (My secret which one)
